What is a grudge belt?

A grudge belt is somewhat tongue-in-cheek named, as it pits two people against each other—like a grudge match—and lets them compete in tug-of-war. The StretchCordz grudge belt is designed for swimmers or water polo players, enabling them to compete in the water with its resistant materials.

The adjustable resistance waist belt can also be tethered to an object, allowing the athlete to train with barge pulls or other resistance exercises.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of swim strength training gear is best for competitive swimmers?

Competitive swimming is all about shaving off every possible millisecond. Strength training gear, such as the Stretchcordz grudge belt, should help with that process. This means building up muscle, pushing a swimmer's endurance level, and focusing on the upper body as much as possible, to allow the swimmer to avoid using their legs (which creates drag) in the water.

Do you incorporate an aquatic resistance belt in your swim sessions, or just during training exercises?

Different resistance belts are built for different exercises, as well as for in-water or dryland. A grudge belt can be used in the water, but it isn’t for long-distance free swimming. Instead, it’s for stationary work, with resistance training to push a swimmer’s reach and ability to fight against the drag of the water or an opponent.

How long should a durable workout belt last?

A durable workout belt should last awhile if given proper care. If you use it in the water, spray off the chlorine after getting out of the pool and hang it to dry. Don’t leave it stretched out when done using it, and only push the adjustable resistance waist belt as far as is suggested for the Stretchcordz grudge belt.
