Amanda Longan was born in Moorpark, California, on February 7, 1995. Her journey into the world of water polo began at a young age. She was introduced to sports through her parents, who were both college athletes. But her father, Tom Longan, a former football player, played a significant role in inciting her passion for water polo and sports.
Growing up in a sports-oriented family, Amanda tried various sports, including swimming and softball. But it was water polo that captured her heart. She joined a local water polo club at the age of eight, and from there, her passion for the sport only grew stronger.
Amanda Longan's collegiate water polo career was nothing short of exceptional. She attended the University of Southern California (USC) and played for the Trojans. During her time at USC, she achieved numerous accolades and helped lead the team to victory.
Longan's achievements include:
- Winning the Peter J. Cutino Award in 2017, considered the Heisman Trophy of collegiate water polo.
- Being named an All-American multiple times.
- Being a pivotal part of the USC team's success, helping them secure national championships during her tenure.
- Her impressive college career not only established her as a top goalkeeper in the collegiate ranks but also caught the attention of the national team selectors.
Rising to the International Stage
